Product description

The SSB17 is a 4-17 Gb/s Stressed Serial BERT containing a controller (SSB16000 or SSB16000J) and pattern generator (PG17) and error detector (ED17) remote mountable heads. The SSB16000 controller has an integrated clock source with calibrated stress capability. This base model is ideal for many optical serial data applications, providing a single tone of sinusoidal jitter. Standards such as PCI Express, USB, SATA, etc often require specialized test patterns and stressed jitter tolerance measurements based on multiple stress components. With user programmable patterns up to 8 Mb, and multi-tone SJ and RJ stress built in, the SSB17J is ideal for these applications. In addition, all three clock outputs of the SSB17J can be modulated with spread spectrum, with a deviation settable up to 1.0% of the clock frequency (10,000 ppm). Having both controller options provides flexibility for your application and budget needs.

The PG17 pattern generator provides true PRBS, common telecom/datacom stress patterns, and user generated patterns up to 8 Mb. Both the PG17 pattern generator and ED17 error detector remote mountable heads allow for a compact system that places the signal close to your device under test. These heads run at full rate at the input and output connectors, eliminating the need for complex cabling, external multiplexers/demultiplexers, and careful calibration to align the clock phasing as in systems that run at a fractional sub-rate.

All features can be controlled through the SSB16000 control panel or remotely through a GPIB or USB interface. Additionally, Centellax offers an analysis software program, the Signal Integrity Studio, designed to control this system using your computer.
