News Release
SANTA ROSA, CALIF.----August 24, 2010—
Centellax’s President and CEO, Julio Perdomo, will speak on the “Challenges of Test Equipment Limitations for Characterizing ICs for High-Speed Communications” at the Compound Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Symposium 2010 panel on IC testing. His talk will highlight the importance of accurate characterization of multi-channel ICs used for high speed communications.
Mr. Perdomo’s talk will focus on the importance of accurate characterization of multi-channel ICs used for high speed communications, and will detail how Modern high speed communication IC's require careful characterization of crosstalk. There is a need for a high speed multi-channel bit error tester that can help in the characterization of IC's with many channels of high speed serial data. High speed chips like terrabit routers have many channels of 10Gbps data inputs. These high speed inputs employ technology like multiple-tap de-emphasis to overcome the inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by transmission over copper and recover the clock from the data. This results in many asynchronous clock domains. The clock induced simultaneous switching noise and power supply noise will depend upon the phase alignment of the multi-channel data inputs. The ability to introduce de-emphasis, plus the capability to independently adjust the delay of each data generator is an accurate and economical way to "hunt out" the worst case channel alignment. This allows the test engineer to look for worst case IC performance from electromagnetic coupling, simultaneous switching noise, and power/ground bounce.
The CSIC Symposium 2010 will be held at the Portola Plaza in Monterey, California, on October 3-6, 2010. The CSIC discussion panel on test & measurement for ICs will take place on Tuesday, October 5th from 1:30-3:00pm.
